What are Lumineers®?

Lumineers are a type of dental veneer.

How thin are Lumineers?

One of the traits of Lumineers is that they are much thinner than traditional dental veneers. Lumineers are nearly as thin as a contact lens, about 0.2 mm.

How much preparation do Lumineers require?

Because Lumineers are so thin, teeth usually need little or no preparation. This is one of the advantages Lumineers have over traditional veneers, which require some of the tooth enamel to be drilled away (which in turn necessitates a local anesthetic and then a temporary restoration to wear while the veneers are created).

How are Lumineers applied?

An impression will be taken of your teeth and sent to a dental lab for the Lumineers’ creation. On your second visit to the dentist, they will check and adjust the fit of the Lumineers, which will then be bonded to the front surface of your teeth.

What do Lumineers cover?

Lumineers improve the appearance of your teeth by covering ones that are crooked, crowded, gapped, stained, misshapen, or worn. They can also cover existing dental restorations like crowns.

Do Lumineers look natural?

Because Lumineers are so thin, they have a slightly translucent appearance that helps them to mimic the natural appearance of the tooth below.

Are Lumineers a permanent solution?

Lumineers can be a permanent solution, but you also have the option to remove them. This is another difference between Lumineers and traditional veneers, which have so much enamel taken away that they have to be a permanent solution.

How long do Lumineers last?

Because of the durable material Lumineers are made from, they can last up to 20 years.

How do I care for Lumineers?

You brush and floss them just like you would with your natural teeth.
