Drs. Ross and Chmiel designed your dentures to fit snugly with the base structure of your gums. It is made from materials meant to be durable enough to withstand the natural rigors of biting and chewing the foods you enjoy.
Even with the naturally tight fit, you might want to apply a little denture adhesive. Not only will it help lock the dentures in place throughout your day, but it can also block food particles from working their way between the base of the dentures and your gums.
Should a little bit of food particles infiltrate the base of the dentures, you should thoroughly rinse the dentures and reapply a fresh line of denture adhesive.
Be sure to thoroughly rinse your dentures at the end of each day. This will help clear away residual denture adhesive and provide you with a smooth surface so you can reapply the denture adhesive the next day. You should then brush all the surfaces of your dentures with a soft-bristled toothbrush and a little nonabrasive denture polish. You can then store your partial overnight by soaking it in water and keeping it in a safe place.
Once this is done, you might also want to clean your tongue by brushing it with your toothbrush or a special tongue scraper. This can help remove excess plaque and bacteria for a fresher breath.
